Welcome to Kohanaiki

Casual elegance and luxury await you in this oceanfront community.

Located two miles from Kona International Airport is Kohanaiki, a private invite-only club community that offers 450 acres of immaculate oceanfront living. Once the playground of King Kamehameha I, Kohanaiki’s shores have a storied place in history. There are petroglyphs, sacred artifacts, and cultural landmarks situated among a rustic mix of sacred ponds, palm trees, rolling golf greens, and a 1.5-mile stretch of the Kona coastline.

Kohanaiki is the true definition of a hidden gem, with world-class offerings that are second to none. It features an oceanfront golf course designed by Rees Jones, a 67,000-square-foot clubhouse and spa, a luxurious beach club, numerous activities for water sports lovers, and five-star dining.

Local Lifestyle

Residents often spend their free time at the beach club facility and a beautiful golf course with six ocean-side holes designed by Reese Jones. Active families and athletes feel right at home in Kohanaiki. The comprehensive sports complex, with state-of-the-art basketball and tennis courts as well as fitness and yoga classes, are great for getting your heart rate up. In addition, the Adventure Team is privy to the Kona Coast and is available to lead group excursions to the beaches and others sites on the Big Island.

Residents also enjoy access to various relaxation amenities, including a blissful spa complete with dry saunas, hot tubs, a relaxation garden, plunge pools, and a yoga lawn. Residents also benefit from a fully-equipped games and billiards room, multiple dining options, and preservation of the Hawaiian culture.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Kohanaiki's restaurants — Konane and Beach Restaurant — are among the best in Hawaii. Konane is a sophisticated chop house and sushi bar situated on the top floor of the Clubhouse. The restaurant gets its name from an old Hawaiian checkers game. Konane serves coastal cuisine in an indoor or outdoor setting.

Every seat in Konane's Beach Restaurant offers breathtaking ocean views and relaxing trade winds. It features a coastal cuisine menu that changes daily to reflect the best and freshest ingredients available. Traditional breakfast and lunch fare emphasize the fresh and natural flavors of the island while giving everything on the plate an edge.

Things to Do

The Kohanaiki Golf Club, designed by John Rees and opened in 2014, is one of a kind. The course winds across more than 100 acres and features six oceanfront holes set along the 1.5 miles of coastline on this property. It is designed around historic sites, historic rock shrines, black volcano rock, and over 200 restored Anchialine ponds. The design's careful consideration of the local wildlife, vegetation, and water conservation earned this course registration with Audubon International Silver Signature Program.

Make time to visit Pine Trees Beach, which is also known as Kohanaiki Beach Park. The area is popular among surfers due to its consistent waves. The white sandy beach is also a great place to enjoy barbecue, relaxation, and scuba diving.
